An International Windsurfing Association sanctioned event

1.      RULES

1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Experimental Slalom Competition Rules (ESCR).

1.2 The International Funboard Class Association (IFCA) Championship Rules shall apply.

1.3 No national prescriptions will apply.

1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

1.5 For this championship Class Rule C.2.3 (b) does not apply. 

2.      ADVERTISING

2.1 Sailors may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. World Sailing Regulation 20 ‘Advertising Code’ shall apply.

2.2 Event branding shall be worn at all times when afloat, and as requested by the organizers during media interviews and during the prize giving.

3. DIVISIONS

3.1 This championship is open to both Men and Women.

3.2    Men and women may race separately.

           Age Divisions

3.3 A Junior shall be under the age of 17 (born in or after 2003).

3.4 A Youth shall be under the age of 21 (born in 1999 or later).

3.5 A Master shall be over the age of 40 (born in 1978 or earlier).

3.6A Grand Master shall be over the age of 50 (born 1968 or earlier).

3.7 A minimum of 5 competitors is required to constitute a prize division.

4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

4.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of World Sailing Regulation 19, Eligibility Code.

4.2 Competitors shall be members of a National Class Association which is a paid up member of the international class association, or of the IWA.

4.3 Membership formalities may be completed on site.

4.4 Eligible competitors may enter online – credit/debit card or bank transfer payment required. Online entry closes on 24th October.

4.5 An entry is not valid until the entry fee is paid.

4.6 The following shall be presented upon registration:

4.6.1 Evidence of valid third party insurance.

4.6.2 Proof of age.

4.6.3 Parental Permission Form  – for those under 18 years of age

5. FEES

5.1 The entry fee is: 150 US$.

5.2 An entry fee paid by October 3rd shall be given a 30 US$ discount.

5.3 Late payment made, and late entries accepted, from October 25th will incur an additional late fee of 30 US$.

5.4 Entry fees paid at registration shall be paid in cash (US$).

6. RACE FORMAT

6.1 The event shall be a single discipline, slalom racing, “open entry” event. Men and women may race separately.

6.2 Competitors may race a maximum of 4 elimination series per day.

6.3 One completed slalom elimination (including both A and B finals) is required to validate a championship.

There will be daily skippers meeting 1 hour before the first possible warning signal.

8. EQUIPMENT& EQUIPMENT INSPECTION

8.1 An Online Equipment Registration Form shall be submitted by each competitor before the end of registration on Thursday 31st (17:00 hrs).

8.2 Equipment inspections may be made at any time during the event.

8.3 Sail Identification Variation. A competitor’s country code (letters) and number (numerals) may be white in color on a black background, but shall in every other way comply with the WCR. This changes IFCA Class Rule C.8.1.a.

8.4 Sail Identification Compliance. The Equipment Inspectors will pay special attention to sail identification rule compliance. A discretionary penalty of 1 point may be imposed for every slalom elimination sailed with sail numbers that are not complying.

8.5 Use of a foil is not permitted.

9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions (SI’s) will be available no later than event registration.

Any changes to the SI’s shall be approved by the Class Representative.

10. COURSES

Courses will be as described in the IFCA Championship Rules or as prescribed in the sailing instructions or published on the official notice board (ONB).

11. SCORING

11.1 Scoring will be according to ESCR Appendix A.

11.2 The continental champion (South American) shall be decided by a competitor’s position in the event overall ranking.

11.3 The event overall ranking shall be used for the final Grand Prix Ranking.

12. COACHES & SUPPORT BOATS

Coaches and support boats shall be registered with the organiser. Support boat drivers shall have a valid boat licence and third party liability insurance.

13. PRIZES & TITLES

13.1 Trophies may be awarded to the first three competitors in each valid division.

13.2 The first man and women in the event overall (GP) ranking shall be declared: “2019 IFCA South American Slalom Champion”.

13.3 The Continental Titles shall only be awarded to competitors with Eligibility to compete for a country from that continent.

13.4 South American titles may be awarded in Men and Women gender divisions, and in the Youth, Master and Grand-Master age divisions depending upon entry numbers

14. OFFICIAL CEREMONIES

Competitors are requested to attend the event’s social functions, including the opening and closing ceremonies.

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk, see ESCR 4 – Decision to Race. The organizing authority or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the event.

16. INSURANCE

Each participating competitor shall be insured with a valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 300,000 US$ per event or the equivalent.

17. RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS

In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use, modify and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Event as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.
